New release today!

Truth and Beauty from Total-e-Bound.com

Nobody ever said love was easy. He’s finally found his soul mate, but if they’re to have their happy ever after they’ll need to survive family disapproval, tragedy and blackmail.

Damian is staring down the barrel of thirty-five with three ex-wives and countless lovers behind him, an uncertain future ahead and a feeling that something is missing.

A visit from his best friend Alex is just what he needs. But Alex, just returned from a stint in Africa with an aid agency, is traumatised by his experience, suffering flashbacks and nightmares. When he finds out what happened to Alex, something he doesn’t quite understand shifts in Damian. It takes the intervention of his first ex-wife to make Damian realise that not only does he have deeper feelings for Alex, but Alex hasn’t been completely honest with him about his own feelings.

Damian’s father is less than pleased with the new, improved relationship, and threatens to disown Damian unless he ends it. But Damian has finally found his path and will not be bullied by a father who has been trying to control him his whole life. He and Alex leave together for London and a new life.

However, a family tragedy soon brings Damian home and he is faced with another sea change. Alex is right there at his side to offer support and love, as always, but Damian’s father’s continued interference threatens the life they are trying to build together. He must find a way to deal with his father once and for all.

Probably the only "fanfic" I will ever write...

Suits.

Rachel: I'm so smart and tortured by my fears that I get to be a complete bitch with impunity, but you must never ever be mean to me because I will cry.

Mike: Bite me.

The end.

That was catharsis :)

TV stuff

I was reading this piece,  among many, about the upcoming season 2 of Hawaii Five-0, and I'm both excited and filled with dread at the prospect.

By and large I loved season one -- there were a few things (particularly the finale) that annoyed the crap out of me, but nothing is ever perfect. However, the buzz surrounding the new season makes me wonder if the dread is outweighing the excitement.

The suggestion that the writers are going to pull a "Castle/Beckett" with McGarrett and a new female character makes me want to run for the hills -- and I swear to God, if I get a hint of that when the show starts I really will. I've been watching Castle from the start and I really enjoy the stories and most of the characters (writers, please see that Ryan and Esposito deserve far more screen time), but the whole will-they-won't-they thing is, quite frankly, getting right on my tits! The writers have kept us "guessing" for so long that by now, I really don't give a crap whether they get together or not. (Bear in mind, please, that here in the UK the season 3 finale is not on until Wednesday).

The same thing happened with Moonlighting back in the 80's with Maddy and David, and by the time they finally got together the ratings had slumped and no-one cared anymore. Castle -- for me at least -- is heading that way. I would truly hate for the writers of Hawaii Five-0, a show that has the potential for being entertainingly long-running, to take that cliched, lazy road.

I feel like, for the last few years, I've been watching the same script being played and re-played after a global search and replace of character names.

It also bothers me that they appear to be bringing in a female character simply for the sexual tension when they have Grace Park there as Kono, a truly kickass female character who was, towards the end of the season, disgracefully underwritten. (And lets not forget that she is actually stunning too!)

Now, this little rant is pure hypothesis (and just my thoughts and opinion), and not meant to offend or annoy any other fans. I love the show. I would love to continue loving the show. So, to the writers of Hawaii Five-0 I say (I beg): if you want to truly compete, don't do the same as everyone else, do better.
